Edward Allen Dennison, age 63, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.
Ed was born on February 23, 1963, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Alvin and Rose Ellen (Tindell) Dennison. He grew up in Garnett and graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1981.
He was united in marriage to Stacey Singer on May 24, 1986, in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two sons, Brendon and Alex.
Following school, Ed worked alongside his father doing contractor work for the telephone company, installing telecommunication lines. In the 1990's, he went to work for Sprint as a service technician until he was diagnosed with leukemia on September 26, 2017. Ed showed his remarkable strength by beating cancer and courageously battling complications from his illness for nearly a decade.
Ed loved all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, but loved his own the most, making sure every bike received his custom touch to turn it into the exact bobber he wanted. He also loved his muscle cars, with his Chevrolet Nova being his all time favorite. An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, and side by sides, and fishing in local farm ponds for bass, catfish, and crappie. Camping was a lifelong tradition, starting as a young boy at Melvern Lake, continuing there with Stacey and their boys, and later spending time at Cedar Valley Reservoir. The Lake of the Ozarks was one of Ed and Stacey's favorite places and became their home away from home.
Family time was at the heart of Ed's life. He loved watching and playing sports with his boys, especially hallway football, whiffle ball, and basketball. Sunday Funday afternoon cruises and fish fries at the shop were some of his favorite traditions, along with smoking meat, watching Gunsmoke (but only the black and white versions), and catching Chiefs and KU games, where he was always quick to offer coaching through the television. A true Facebook Marketplace and Amazon connoisseur, Ed was also a skilled pot stirrer with a great sense of humor. He never could wait to eat something that came right out of the oven, and he was famous for making his Ed McMuffins. Above all, Ed cherished playing with his granddaughters, who affectionately called him "Papa Ed". Just as his father did, Ed will live on as the "Alvin-isms" are passed down to future generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Rose Dennison; and his sister, Glenda Carter.
Ed is survived by his wife, Stacey Dennison, of the home; two sons, Brendon Dennison and fiancée Dakota Penner and her two daughters, Athena and Avory, and a grandson on the way, and Alex Dennison and wife Mariah and granddaughters, Mayven and Cambrie; his brother, Clark Dennison; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
