Mr. Sheern was a great man. I always looked up to him with admiration. To me, he exemplified honesty, hard-working integrity and loyalty. He must have been a loving husband; the marriage between Mr. and Mrs. Sheern always seemed solid. And I can imagine the warmth and tenderness they enjoyed together. I remember times when I was quite small our families were together enjoying meals, laughing, playing together. I particularly recall watching Wizard of Oz in the spring with Sheern children, though all were older than me. I am grateful these memories and friendships continues. In a way, Mr. Sheern was like an uncle to me, and at times, like a second father to my older siblings. We trusted Mr. and Mrs. Sheern very much. My hope is that Doug and Ann, Nancy and Terry, along with their spouses will continue to treasure the memories of love and devotion from both their mom and their dad and that the grandchildren and great grandchildren will likewise treasure the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Sheern.

Astory that truly tells of Ralph's character. In 1966, my brother, Randy passed away. Ralph came to console my parents and took my dad out for a walk. None of us ever knew what was said but I know words of wisdom and a shoulder to lean on was there. In 1970, when Chris passed away, my dad, Bernie Ohmes, went to Ralph and another walk happened. Two caring men helping each other through the sorrow of loosing a child at a young age. Later, in 1977, when my mother passed away, Ralph and my dad took another "walk". I only wish I knew what words were exchanged as Ralph helped my father go through his sorrow. I thought the family would like to know how much this still means to me.

I just heard earlier today that Ralph passed. Ann, Nancy, Doug & Terry, we grew up across the street from each other. When your Mom Martha passed last year, and my Mom Pearl passed earlier this year, I thought it was the passing of an era. But now that your Dad Ralph is gone, it truly is. All of you (and your Uncle Pat - who was there also back then) truly are an extremely important part of my past, and my life. All of you, and Ralph and Martha, always will hold a special part in the middle of my heart. Cookies, anyone? And do you want some milk, also? Love you all.

All of the community will miss this very fine gentleman and the lovely gentle woman who were so integral to the area. There are so many stories regarding lives they touched, and the ways their influences helped others. They will always be thought of with loving memories by those who knew them.

Terri, I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I enjoyed my years of working with him at the Medical Center and he taught me a lot about the business world. I always enjoyed the gatherings at your folks' home during our Christmas parties and the rich, rich chocolate desserts you Mom always served. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Fred and I send our sincere sympathy to the Sheern family. I saw Ralph and Martha off and on growing up since Marilyn Powelson was my aunt. I worked with Martha at the hospital years ago and reconnected with her and Ralph while she was at Golden Heights. They were both such kind, gentle people, always smiling and interested in how you were doing. Our sympathy and prayers.
