Beverly Jean Potter, age 89, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Heartland Meadows Assisted Living Center, Iola, Kansas. Beverly was born on September 9, 1929, in Iola, to Charles Wilson and Bertha M. (Brown) Wilson. Beverly graduated from Iola High School, Iola, Kansas. She and James W. Potter were married on November 23, 1947, in Iola. James preceded her in death on November 29, 2017. Beverly worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and later as a para-educator for USD # 257, at Jefferson Elementary School, in Iola. Beverly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and all those who fondly called her Aunt Petie or Grandma Potter. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; two daughters, Brenda Potter and Jayme Appling; and half-brother, Neal Sponseller. Beverly is survived by one son, Kyle Potter, Iola, Kansas; two daughters, Becky Welsh and husband, Jack, Creede, Colorado, Kenny Sue Miller and husband, Eric, Iola, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Daniel Potter and wife, Becky, Louisburg, Kansas, Kristi Holland and husband, Jason, Louisburg, Kansas, Ivy Morris and husband, Chauncey, Florissant, Colorado, Samuel Rowe and Kayla, Hanford, California, Cody Conley and Bri, Iola, Kansas, Chase Appling, Iola, Kansas, Kristin Lamb and Maci Miller, Iola, Kansas; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sharon Hoffmeier and husband, Don, Iola, Kansas. A graveside service with burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019, in Highland Cemetery, 1800 North Cottonwood, Iola, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church Outreach or to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facilty (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
