Darlene (Doll) Burton

Dannie Darlene Burton, age 84, of Humboldt, Kansas passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, at her home.

Darlene was born in La Harpe, Kansas, to George Wilson and Dannie J. (Gregg) Wilson on November 29, 1939, the very middle child of thirteen children. She attended Iola and Gas City schools throughout her childhood, finishing with her GED at Allen Community College.

Darlene and James Burton were married on May 28, 1957, in Iola, Kansas. They made their home in Gas, Kansas, before moving to Hutchinson. They then moved the family back to the Allen County area where they chose to stay.

Darlene loved to praise her Lord and attend church when able to. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, and she liked to sing at the nursing homes with her sisters. They were known as The Wilson Sisters.

Darlene is preceded in death by both her parents; her husband; son, Jamie Burton; brothers, Buck Wilson, George Wilson, Jr., Bob Wilson, Clifford Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Gregg Wilson; and sisters, Clodene Parker, Verba Newsom, Bonnie Hutton, Martha Conley.

Darlene is survived by her brother, Jimmie Wilson, of Wichita; sister, Shirley Marr, of Purcell, Oklahoma; son, Rick (Teresa) Burton, of Gas; daughter, Beth (Edward) Ortiz, of Humboldt; grandchildren, Allan (Shanna), Nathan (Nikki), Heather, and Devon Burton, Cassie, Chelsea, and Grant, Todd and Derek, Spencer and Noah, Jaime Walker, Joshua Walker, Sarah (Brian) Ortiz-Riley; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other friends and relatives.

A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Wings of Warriors or Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
