Don Snavely

Donald Ray Snavely, age 65, of Iola, Kansas, passed away October 5, 2023, in Chanute, Kansas. Don was born June 19, 1958, in Iola, Kansas, to Merle Snavely and Jeanette (Stranghoner) Snavely.

Don graduated in 1976 from Iola High School. He attended Allen County Community College in Iola.

Don and Vickie Stanley were married on August 30, 1986. They had three sons, Luke, Seth, and Shane. They divorced in 2015.

Don worked in construction for Below Standard Construction with Wayne Garrett, Andy Beatty, and the crew. Don then worked for multiple crude oil companies in the area, including FracMaster, Consolidated Oil Well Services, CMT, Plains Marketing, and High Sierra. He started his own LLC, Journey Consulting, where he was a contract crude oil hauler for Platt Trucking.

There were two seasons in Don's life, deer season and lake season at Stockton Lake. He enjoyed barefoot skiing until he was 63 years old.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Meservey; nephew, Justin Snavely; and sister-in-law, Shirley Snavely; and cousin David Stanley.

Don is survived by companion, Julie Follmer; sons, Luke (Stacia) Snavely, Seth Snavely, Shane (Melissa) Snavely; grandchildren, Henry Snavely, Nora Snavely, Oliver Snavely, Jaxon Snavely, Racquel Snavely, Ivy Snavely, Kyler Arvidson; brothers, John (Judy) Snavely, Charles Snavely, Morris Snavely, Joe Snavely; sisters, Ann (Ed) Born, Nancy (Sam) Ruby; and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service for Don will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in Iola Township Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Wings of Warriors or Wesley United Methodist Church, and can be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
