Abigail Marie Sonka

Abigail Marie Sonka, age 44, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at her home. She had been in declining health the last few years.

Abby was born in Iola, Kansas, on May 26, 1978. She attended school in Iola and Moran and graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 1996. Abby worked various jobs in the Iola area, but mostly at Ray's Mini Mart.

Abby married Douglas Lieurance, Jr. in 1996 and they later divorced. They had three daughters from this union, Kaitlyn, Kristen and Kallen.

Abigail was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Allen and Rose (Turner) Stokes, her parental grandparents, Carl and Dorothy (Crittendon) Sonka, Glenn Cooper, Bulinda (Clark) Sherwood, William Hillbrant; her brother, Marc Sonka; and a nephew, Drake Bunnel.

Abigail is survived by her parents, Dennis and Debra (Stokes) Cooper; her children, Kaitlyn (Trevor Chism) Lieurance, Kristen Lieurance, Kallen (Evan Gean) Lieurance, and Mary Jane Raine became her unofficial adopted daughter; one brother, James (Shannon) DePriest, one sister, Chelsey (Chad) Beasley; two grandchildren, Colby Chism, Everly Gean; and one granddog, Fish. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
