Ada Baeten, 92, lived a long, love filled life and went home to be with her Lord on August 3, 2019. Born the youngest of nine children, to George “Eddie” and Ruby (Adams) Frederick, on August 29, 1926. Ada grew up in rural Wilson county, she went to school and graduated from Vilas High School in 1944. She attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas and received her teaching certificate in 1952. She then taught all eight grades for three years at Leanna rural school in Neosho County. In her youth Ada enjoyed going to the skating rink, it was there that she met Kenneth Baeten, they dated for three years and married on June 7, 1955.
A little over a year later, they welcomed their firstborn, a daughter, Linda Diane. Three years later they welcomed their son, Lauren Dean. Ada was a homemaker while her husband farmed, they lived west of Humboldt on the family dairy farm. Ada was a member of Extension Homemakers Association over sixty years and regularly got together with a group of friends that had named themselves the “Old Hens”. She was the cooking and sewing leader of the Maple Rose and Bloom (MRB) 4-H club, that both Linda and Lauren participated in. Ada enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family members. She enjoyed cooking and baking while using her children and grandchildren as willing recipients. Ada was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for 64 years and was active in teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and a member of LWML.
Ada was married to her husband, Kenneth for 49 years, until his death in April 2005. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Frederick, her sisters Florence Holtz and Ruby Frederick, and her brothers; Forrest “Frosty” Frederick, William Frederick, Donald Frederick, Glen Frederick, George Frederick, and an unnamed baby boy.
Ada is survived by her children, Linda Hill and husband, Robert, of Iola. Lauren Baeten and wife, Ellen, Topeka. Her grandchildren, Mari Hill (Humboldt), Gregory Hill (Topeka), Abigail Baeten (Clay Center), Hannah Quici and husband, John (Manhattan) and John Baeten (Wichita). Ada is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Funeral services for Ada will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery, Humboldt. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 in the Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
