Ada Louise Stever, age 92, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Anderson County Hospital, Long Term Care in Garnett, after suffering a stroke on Christmas day. She was born on February 4, 1919, near Conway, Missouri, the daughter of William Barton Johnson and Nora Elizabeth (Montgomery) Johnson. She was the youngest of five children. Ada married Ralph Stever on March 20, 1937 in Conway, Missouri. In 1940, Ada, Ralph and son Lloyd moved to the Glenwood Community of Eastern Coffey County, Kansas, where they farmed until 1947. They purchased and operated the Reppert Store in Harris until 1952, when they moved to Colony. She and Ralph farmed and worked on several rental properties as long as their health permitted. Ada and Ralph were always thankful that they had good neighbors. After Ralph's death, she continued to live alone with her dog, Brownie. Although she had trouble seeing and hearing things clearly, she continued to be involved with the cattle, crops, rental property, and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph Stever in 2006; an infant son; two brothers; and two sisters. Ada is survived by two sons, Lloyd Stever and wife Lovara of Kingsville, Missouri; George Stever of Colony, Kansas; two daughters, Louise Houck and husband Gary of Houston, Texas; Cindy Tinsley and husband David of Colony, Kansas; brother-in-law Frank Stever of Odessa, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Colony, Kansas, burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:30 - 2:30 PM prior to the service. Ada will lie in state at the funeral home in Colony from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
