Agnes Wilper, age 86, of Harris, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on May 18, 1925, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Robert H. and Louisa (Koetting) Korte. Agnes graduated from Emporia High School, Emporia, Kansas, working for Hallmark in Emporia for a number of years. Agnes served on the Anderson County election board in Reeder Township for many years. Agnes married Edward Wilper on March 30, 1948 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. Ed and Agnes were partners in the family farming operation. They enjoyed bus trips, dancing, and socializing with friends and family. Agnes enjoyed sitting on her porch swing watching her beloved hummingbirds and the farm scenery. She was a devout Catholic and was dedicated to participating in the church activities at St. Patrick's Emerald Church, especially singing in the choir. Her strong faith and love of family brought her joy all the days of her life. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the St. Patrick's Altar Society; the Harris Progressive E.H.U., and the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W.; volunteered for many years for the Community Blood Drive for the American Red Cross and was a member of the 100 gallon club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Louisa Korte; her husband Edward Wilper on April 25, 2010; and a son, Ralph J. Wilper on May 26, 1999; three sisters, Catherine Korte, twins, Dorothy and Louisa (died in infancy); eight brothers, Herman Korte, Joseph Korte, Robert W. Korte, Louis Korte, Albert Korte, Francis Korte, Anthony Korte, and Paul Korte. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Iona L. Wilper of Shawnee, Kansas; son, Robert E. Wilper of Harris, Kansas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Emerald, Kansas, with burial to follow in the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
