Alberta Helen Rhodes

Alberta Rhodes, age 80, of Moran, Kansas, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014, at Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas. She was born on March 19, 1934, at Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Albert Milton and Helen Ruth (Curry) Jones. Alberta graduated from Carthage High School working at Ben Franklin in Fort Scott, Kansas, and as a waitress at various places. She also worked at the Moran City Hall for some time. Alberta married Robert Rhodes on January 26, 1956, at Fort Scott, Kansas. This union was blessed with four sons. While raising her family, they lived in several places as Robert was stationed in the Air Force throughout the United States and the Philippines. She was a member of Hope Chapel Assembly of God. Alberta enjoyed gardening, painting, crocheting, and reading. She especially loved cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Helen Jones; her husband, Robert Rhodes in October 14, 1989; one grandson, Josh Buckman; and one brother, Lloyd "Sonny" Jones. She is survived by her four sons, William Rhodes and wife Jill of Moran, Kansas; Robert Rhodes and wife Vicki of Moran, Kansas; Dennis Rhodes and wife Cindy of Kincaid, Kansas; and David Rhodes and Connie Smith of Manteca, California; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Gayle Nuese of Edinberg, Illinois; Patricia Cholka and husband Dennis of Neosho, Missouri; three brothers, Mike Jones and wife Claudia of Lawrence, Kansas; Alan Jones of Diamond, Missouri; Tony Jones of Lawrence, Kansas; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Hope Chapel, Moran. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cremation is planned following services.
