Aletha B. (Peddicord) Duvall, age 98, of Livonia, Michigan, formerly of Garnett, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Heartland Health Care Center Dorvin, Livonia, Michigan. Aletha was born August 10, 1910 at Williamsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Albert and Frances Lydia (Kirkman) Peddicord. She was a graduate of Williamsburg high school, class of 1928, and Ottawa Business College. After her graduation she worked as a stenographer for Williamsburg Bank. She married Glenn Duvall in February 1933 at Williamsburg and, with the exception of her time as bookkeeper for the ANCO Refinery during WWII, served as homemaker as well as accountant and bookkeeper for his Sinclair Oil and Gas delivery and, later, grocery businesses. Aletha enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends. She was a 60 year Member of the Garnett First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also active in the VFW, American Legion Women's Auxiliaries, and the Vista Study Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn, and a daughter Donna Lynn. Aletha is survived by son Glenn Cecil Duvall, his wife Rhonda, grandson Glenn Charles (Chuck) Duvall, and granddaughter Laura of Farmington Hills, MI. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Garnett First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garnett First United Methodist Church.
