Jeanette Arnett, age 74, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at her home.   Alice Jeanette was born on July 4, 1943, at Garnett, the daughter of Albert Keith and Gladys Margaret (Rook) Finkenbinder. Jeanette attended Bush City grade school, and graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1961. While she was young, Jeanette was active in 4H winning a number of awards for cooking, sewing and home improvement. Jeanette was united in marriage to Ray Norman Arnett on July 9, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Bush City, Kansas. They first made their home in Garnett, later moving to their current farm in 1964. When her children were in 4H, she served as a project and club leader for several years. She enjoyed singing and playing piano in a gospel trio known as the Gospelettes; they traveled to many area churches. Jeanette worked at PJ's, the Burgerteria, and as the First Baptist Church secretary for 12 years. She then worked at the Anderson County Weed Department for 14 years, retiring in 2008. Faith, family and music were important to Jeanette throughout her life. She attended and served as a pianist for the First Baptist Church in Garnett for many years. She later began attending the Garnett Church of Nazarene, where she was actively involved over the last 21 years of her life. While raising their family, they spent much time camping and fishing at Beaver Lake. They also enjoyed taking their grandkids and great grandkids on vacation, traveling to many places including, Branson, Missouri, Montana, Texas, and Alaska. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, crocheting, baking and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dale Finkenbinder; and her sister, Frances DeNoon. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Ray Arnett, of the home; daughter, Rachel Umbarger of Richmond, Kansas; son, Raymond Arnett and wife Tonya of Garnett, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jana and Brady Turley, Matthew Umbarger and Amanda Hutcheson, Levi Arnett and Lexi Pedrow, Amy and Sam Schulte, Katie and Harold Gilbreth, Sarah and Cory Young; six great grandchildren, Braden, Brilee, Elizabeth, Barrett, Calister, and Brett. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Pleasantview Cemetery (Glenloch, Kansas). The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Tablerock (where Jeanette volunteered for many years) or to the Anderson County 4H Scholarship Fund and left in care of the funeral home.
