Alvina Frances Peters, 89, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Alvina was born October 25, 1919, at Ost, Kansas, to Arthur William and Madeline Mary (Evertz) Orth. On August 10, 1944, Alvina married Francis Fredrick "Pete" Peters at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita until moving to Iola in 1949, where they raised their family of 6 boys and 2 girls. Her husband preceded her in death on October 18, 1983. Alvina worked for H.L. Miller & Son Dress Factory for 12 1/2 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Altar Society and craft group. She was also a member of the LaHarpe V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Alvina's hobbies included quilting, sewing and collecting thimbles from around the world. SURVIVORS: 5 Sons: Eugene Peters & wife Karen of Broken Arrow, OK; Dennis Peters & wife, Nadine of Chanute, KS; Mark Peters & wife, Virginia of Iola, KS; Francis Peters, Jr. & wife Gracie of Morgan Hill, CA; and Louis Peters & wife, Cynthia of Blue Springs, MO. 2 Daughters: Carol (Peters) Wilson & husband, Mark of Gas, KS; and Kathy Peters of Olathe, KS. 1 Daughter-in-law: Roxy Peters of Iola, KS. 13 Grandchildren & 18 Great Grandchildren 3 Sisters: Sister Lorene Orth of Wichita, KS; Evelyn Jacobs of Wichita, KS; and Maggie Robinson of Enid, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Pete" and son, Joseph, and by 4 brothers, Elmer Orth, Arthur Orth, Jr., Lawrence Orth and Raymond Orth and by a sister, Millie Orth. VISITATION: 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by the mass at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Reverend Robert B.
