Anita Dolores Brocklesby, age 80, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Gardner, Kansas.
She was born March 24, 1939, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of Paul I. and Ruth Marie (Garrison) Harter. Dolores attended Lowell Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Wichita, Kansas.
Dolores married Leonard Brocklesby on June 14, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children, Johnna, Fred, and Darlene.
She retired from Golden Heights, but first and foremost she was a homemaker, caretaker and was very family oriented. She rarely turned down an opportunity to lend a helping hand, whether it was baking cakes, sewing or running errands for others. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her passion and she never knew a stranger. Dolores was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Harter and Ruth Minsch; her husband, Leonard Brocklesby on March 20, 2010; one sister, Kathy Verwoist; and one brother, Paul Eugene Harter.
Dolores is survived by her children, Johnna Rios of Garnett, Kansas; Fred Brocklesby and wife Gail of Woodland Park, Colorado, Darlene Lickteig and husband Bill of Garnett, Kansas; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, John Harter and wife Mary Ann of Clovis, California; three sisters, Mary Ruth Smith of North Glenn, Colorado, Carolyn Fletcher of Hanford, California, and Regina Harter of Fresno, California.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Monday evening at the church with visitation to follow. Inurnment at a later date.
