Arlene Flynn

Arlene Flynn, 89, of Moran, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Tara Gardens in Iola. Arlene was born October 3, 1923, the only child of Arlo Brown and Mabel Marie (Reeves) Hopkins on the family farm northwest of Moran. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Rising Star Rural School and then Mildred High School. On December 24, 1941, Arlene married Boward B. Flynn at her parent's home and they made their home and farmed northwest of Moran. Mr. Flynn preceded her in death December 1, 2008. Arlene was a member of the Mildred United Methodist Church, Moran American Legion Auxiliary and LaHarpe V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and working outdoors. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Twyla Norman & husband, Harley of Gas, KS 1 Son: Thurman Flynn & wife, Onetta of Gas, KS 8 Grandchildren: Monica Smart & husband, Larry of Frankfort, KS, Michelle Butler & husband, Joe of Gonzales, LA, Justin Flynn & wife, Larissa, Derek Flynn & wife, Kim, and Dana Davis & husband, Rob all of Des Moines, IA, Darren Northcutt & wife, Andrea of Iola, KS, Shaun Chester & wife, Jennifer of Lexington, NE and Darrell Chester & wife, Karen of Iola, KS 22 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerrett Flynn. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Fri., Dec. 14, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
