Arthur F. Jockman, age 91, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at the Richmond Healthcare Facility in Richmond, Kansas. He was born on October 16, 1917, in rural Greeley, Kansas, the son of Joseph Jacques Jockmans, a Belgian immigrant, and Adelherti Ellen (Peine) Jockman. Art was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Lickteig on January 5, 1937. This union was blessed with three children. He was a farmer, dairy farmer and stockman in the Scipio, Richmond and Ottawa area. He was part owner of J&C Cattle Company. Art was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He was previously of St. Boniface Church in Scipio; and served on the School Board at Scipio; he was member of the Kansas Livestock Association and the Kansas Limousine Breeders Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry; two sisters, Mary Lickteig and Minnie Bowman; and a son-in-law, Ronald Sims. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jockman of Richmond, Kansas; one son, Donald Jockman and wife Charlotte of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Rosalie Sims of Edgerton, Kansas; Joyce Callahan and husband Mike of Baldwin, Kansas; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett. The family will greet friends following a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Church Building Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
