Audrey B. Drake, age 88, of Garnett, KS, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Mrs. Drake was born on September 9, 1919, at Selma, KS, the daughter of Clyde Ellington and Lulu (McGee) Ellington. Audrey grew up in the Centerville area and graduated from the Blue Mound High School. She lived in the Bronson area most of her life, before living in California for five years, later moving to Garnett in 1989. She married L.F. Duck Drake on September 10, 1949 at Iola, KS. She and Duck owned and operated the Chicken Shack in Bronson from 1965 to 1981. She was a Past Worthy Matron and 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #65 in Bronson and she taught tole painting classes for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garnett. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Deer and husband Bill of Show Low, AZ; one sister, Marie Anderson of Garnett, KS; and three grandchildren, Jamie ONeil of Hot Springs, CA; Kimberly Platt of Carson City, NV; and Leslie Strand of Austin, TX. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother Arlo, and Eldon Ellington, brother, and Leora Brownback, sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett, KS. Burial at the Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, KS. She will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday from noon to 8:00 p.m.
