Audrey Christine Hill

Elsmore, KS - Audrey Christine Hill, age 95, of Elsmore, Kansas passed away July 11, 2009 at the Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Audrey was born February 21, 1914 at Stark, Kansas, the daughter of James Orel and Inez (Bennett) Acton. She grew up in the Stark and Kimball area. Audrey was united in marriage to John W. Hill on May 11, 1940 at Iola, Kansas. The family made their home and farmed at Elsmore. This union was blessed with one daughter. Audrey was a homemaker and worked with John on the farm. She was a member of the Elsmore united Methodist Church and the U.M.W. Audrey enjoyed working in her garden and could always be counted on to help anyone who needed it. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on March 5, 1998; four brothers, Henry, Jo, Jewell, and Theodore Acton; a sister, Alta Lee Montee; and a great-granddaughter, Crystal Rose. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Hinkel and husband, Lynn, of Chanute, Kansas; three grandchildren, Dean Sears of Humboldt, Kansas, Lynn M. Hinkel of Chanute, and Leland M. Hinkel of Wichita, Kansas; 4 great-grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Devon and Leland; two great-great-grandchildren, Anthony A. and Aidin B. Hartman; two brothers, Edmond Acton and wife, Joyce and Albert Acton and wife, Evelyn, all of Kansas City, Missouri; and one sister, Marie Beard of Webb City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Elsmore United Methodist Church, burial will follow in the Elsmore Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Moran.
