Barbara E. Evans

Moran, Kansas - Barbara E. Evans, age 72 of Moran passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Allen County hospital, Iola, Kansas. Barbara was born May 21, 1936 at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Harlan and Esther (Dumars) George. She grew up in Iola before the family moved to Oklahoma when she was a teenager. After graduating from high school in Oklahoma, she attended nursing school where she earned her Graduate Nurse Degree. Barbara married Solomon Evans in 1959, two children were born to this union, they later divorced. In 1963 she returned to Iola where she worked in area hospitals and nursing homes until the early 1980's, when her health would no longer permit. Barbara enjoyed music, camping and the outdoors. She is survived by her two sons, Jon Evans and wife, Lori, of Moran, Kansas and James Evans of Chanute, Kansas; two brothers, Richard George and wife, Geraldine, of Berryville, Arkansas, and Robert George and wife, Linda, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran. Interment will follow in the Moran Cemetery. Barbara will lie in state from 1:00 - 5:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home in Moran. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
