Beatrice E. Bures, age 96, of Richmond, Kansas, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett, Kansas. Beatrice was born on August 21, 1912, at Richmond, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Benus) Gretencord. She grew up in Richmond, and attended West Scipio School. She was united in marriage to Matthew Luke Bures on February 21, 1950 at St. Boniface Church. This union was blessed with two children. Beatrice was a member of the St. Boniface Church and Altar Society, the Junction Needlework Club, and her card club. She loved her garden and flowers and enjoyed working on and decorating her home. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Matthew Bures on May 11, 1970; two brothers, Ervin and Alvin Gretencord; three sisters, Ines Kinney, Viola Griffith, and Claire Gretencord. She is survived by her son, Rene Bures and wife Rosalee of Richmond, Kansas; one daughter, Anita Bures of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Rose Gretencord of Richmond, Kansas; four grandchildren, Eliah Bures and wife Erin of Waiblingen, Germany; Drew Bures of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Kyle Bures of Manhattan, Kansas; and Amanda Bures of Richmond, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow the service at St. Boniface Cemetery in Scipio, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the rosary service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Boniface Cemetery Fund.
