Bernita Dawson, age 87, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Yates Center, Kansas.
Bernita was born June 19, 1933 to Kenneth and Mildred (Nutter) Stine in Uniontown, Kansas. Bernita graduated high school from Uniontown in 1951. After school, she began working as a seamstress where she held jobs at Key Work Clothes in Fort Scott, Kansas and then later Miller’s Dress Factory in Iola, Kansas. In 1967, Bernita married Jack Dawson. They built their life together in Iola.
Bernita is preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Thompson; brother, Kenneth E. Stine; and sister, Margie Shanks.
Bernita is survived by husband, Jack Dawson; daughter, Sharon Roush (George); brothers, Norman Stine (Audra) and Bernard Stine (Mary Ann); grandsons, Tyler Roush, Brandon Roush (Raetchel), and Kenneth Thompson (Keisha); great-grandchildren, Mallory Roush, Kirsten Roush, Quintin Thompson, Klowie Thompson, Luca Thompson, Theodora Thompson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. in The Chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Graveside service and burial will take place at Uniontown Cemetery in Uniontown, Kansas following visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Bernita are suggested to the Bernita Dawson Memorial Fund and may be left with the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
