Betty L. Hoke, age 81, of Garnett, Kansas, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on October 5, 1927, at Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Albert John and Annabelle (Fisher) Cherry. Betty was united in marriage to Gerald L. Hoke on November 5, 1943, at Camp Rucker, Alabama. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garnett. Betty enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and cooking for her family, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Hoke on November 30, 1990; her brother, Paul William Foster; and one great granddaughter, Alexandria Ann Hoke. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Hoke and wife Betsy of Lawrence, Kansas; Gary Hoke and wife Cathy of Garnett, Kansas; two daughters, Jeannie Rink and husband Larry of Constantine, Michigan; Jamie Wittgartner and husband Robert of Garnett, Kansas; one sister, Mary Frances Wendling and husband Richard of Casper, Wyoming; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the First Christian in Garnett, burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday evening, January 8, 2009 at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas and sent in care of the funeral home.
