Betty Karr

Betty J. Karr, 84, of LaHarpe, Kansas, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Moran Manor. Betty was born September 12, 1926, in Colony, Kansas, the daughter of Lynn C. and Helen M. (Wilcott) Hambrick. On February 20, 1946, Betty married Ray Karr at the courthouse in Iola. They made their home in the Iola and LaHarpe areas. Ray preceded her in death on August 20, 1991. Betty worked for Smart's Grocery in LaHarpe, at IMP Boats in Iola for 18 years and at Midland Brake in Iola 6 years before she retired. She enjoyed painting and attending her children's and grandchildren's ballgames. SURVIVORS: Her 5 Children: Joan Zornes & husband, Richard of Miami, OK, Linda Parks & husband, Joe of Yates Center, KS, Carol Long & husband, Fred of Independence, KS, Harold Karr & wife, Marsha of LaHarpe, KS and Kenny Karr & wife, Patty of LaHarpe, KS 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray. VISITATION: 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow the visitation. Private inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola, at a later date. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial to the Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation (ACARF) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
