Betty Kilby

Betty Jo Kilby, 86, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home. Betty Jo was born July 2, 1925, at Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Julius W. and Elizabeth M. (Hamilton) Linde. She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1943. On January 25, 1945, Betty Jo married James A. Kilby, Jr. and they made their home in Iola except for a few years spent in Odessa, Texas and Yates Center. Betty Jo worked for Schell Cleaners from 1970 to 1975 and for Berg Manufacturing from 1975 until 1990. Mr. Kilby preceded her in death on February 18, 2002. She was a member of Truth Church in Iola. SURVIVORS: 2 Children: Connie Alexander of Iola, KS and James J. "Jim" Kilby & wife, Sharon of Iola, KS 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Linde of Yates Center, son-in-law Grant Alexander, daughter-in-law Chris Kilby and great great granddaughter Riley Jo Silvey. Cremation has taken place. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas. Pastor Terry Mays will officiate. MEMORIAL: Allen County Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
