Betty L. Moyer

Betty Lea Moyer, age 67, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Richmond HealthCare and Rehab Center in Richmond, Kansas. She was born March 2, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Earl Russell and Ina Beatrice (Teters) Roberts. Betty was united in marriage to James W. Moyer on August 5, 1978 at Garnett, Kansas. She worked as a dietician at Golden Heights; KC BMA for several years as a housekeeper; Mission Hills Country Club; Casey's in Wellsville; and U-Do in Garnett. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and crafts. She especially enjoyed taking her grandkids on vacations to Branson and Galveston; and taking them camping. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Earl Roberts; and one sister, Alice Kirkpatrick. Betty is survived by her husband, James Moyer, of the home; three sons, Lonnie VonHolten and wife Debra of Independence, Missouri; George VonHolten and wife Tess of Paola, Kansas; Glen Roberts and wife Susan of Novinger, Missouri; three daughters, Sandra Collins and husband Steve of Garnett, Kansas; Tracie Pretzer and husband Kevin of Welda, Kansas; Lori Edwards and husband Donald of Branson, Missouri; one sister, Mary Pettry of Adrian, Missouri; twenty-one grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas.
