Beulah Mae Heller, 95, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt. Beulah was born June 24, 1915, in Independence, Kansas, the daughter of George Myron and Nona Iola (Freiermuth) Burtnett. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1933. On August 12, 1935, Beulah married Frank P. Heller in Nevada, Missouri. They made their home in Oswego, Kansas, until his death on October 30, 1980. She moved to Humboldt in 1981. Beulah enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband and she enjoyed people. She had been a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Oswego and had volunteered at the Senior Center in Humboldt for 11 years. SURVIVORS: 1 Sister: Mary Alice Carey of Humboldt, KS 4 Nephews & 6 Nieces A Lifetime Friend: Floy Nelson of Iola, and her three sons Beulah was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harold, Clifford, Orval and Howard Burtnett, and by 2 sisters, Nona Marie Plummer and Peggy Moore. Mrs. Heller will lie in state at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola on Friday and Saturday morning. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. MEMORIAL: Humboldt Senior Center Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
