Beverly J. Hawk

Beverly Jeanine Hawk, age 87, of Iola, Kansas, passed away June 5, 2023, at her residence. Beverly was born May 15, 1936, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Maynard Morgan and Lena (Day) Morgan.

Beverly graduated in 1954 from Iola High School. Beverly and Gary Hawk were married August 29, 1954, in Iola, Kansas.

The Hawks lived in Bayonne, New Jersey, while Gary was serving in the United States Navy. Beverly returned to Iola in August, 1955, for the birth of their first daughter. After Gary's discharged from the Navy, he and Beverly moved to Manhattan, Kansas. Later, they moved to Overland Park, where they both worked for Hallmark Cards and their second daughter was born. After several more years and job-related moves, the Hawks moved to Wichita, where their third daughter was born. They moved back to Iola in 1971.

Beverly spent most of her time as a stay-at-home mom to raise the girls and to be involved in their activities. After the girls got older, Beverly worked for Farm Bureau and Johnnie's Dress Shop in Iola until Gary decided to become a full-time artist and open his gallery. Beverly and Gary made a fantastic team, working together to produce and sell Gary's artwork. Beverly, with the support of Gary, purchased the Classy Attic gift shop in Iola in the 1990s. She sold the gift shop in the early 2000s so she and Gary could travel.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Hawk; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Nina Hawk; and brother-in-law, Dale Hawk.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Ron) Smail, Iola, Kansas, Susan Hawk, Iola, Kansas, Lora (Mark) Obermueller, Lincoln, Kansas; grandchildren, Michael (Em) Smail, James Smail, Matthew (Malin) Smail, Scott Smail, Stacie (Jason Chandlee) Smail, Dacia (Justin) Underwood, Dylan Obermueller, Brandi (T.J.) Jackson, Brecken Obermueller; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Hawk; and brother-in-law, Bob (Ginny) Hawk.

A visitation for Beverly will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
