Lloyd William "Bill" Draper, 91, long-time Moran farmer, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kansas. Bill was born Dec. 21, 1924, at rural Elsmore, KS, the son of Bert Walter and Flossie Ellen (Warren) Draper. He grew up in Allen County and graduated from Mildred High School. On Dec. 25, 1954, Bill married Mary Lou Upton in Iola. They made their home on a farm at LaHarpe a short time before settling on their farm north of Moran where they resided until two years ago. Besides farming, he enjoyed coon and quail hunting. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Draper of the home in Iola, KS, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Pearl Hunt Nelson and Ina Lawry. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Fri., Feb. 5, 2016, at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
