Billy Stanford

Billy Gene Stanford, Jr., age 68, of Herington, Kansas, formerly of Richmond, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at his home.

He was born on December 2, 1956, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Billy Gene and Margie Sue (Stone) Stanford. Billy attended Marmaton Valley and went on to obtain his Associates in Applied Science from Central Texas College. Following school he joined the Army serving for almost a decade; where he met the love of his life. Billy was united in marriage to Sun Ok Nam on August 1, 1975, in Seoul, Korea. They were blessed with a daughter Susan in November, 1983. After being honorably discharged from the Army they made their home in Richmond, Kansas. Billy went on to start Billy Stanford Tree Service with his father and continued until retirement. He spent his retirement traveling with his two dogs. In November of 2024, he was diagnosed with cancer and although fighting hard, the Lord called him home.

Billy will be remembered for his interesting stories and always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sun Stanford on October 18, 2015; his daughter, Susan Stanford; and grandson, Mason Stanford; sister, Diana Fulton; brother, Sam Stanford.

Billy is survived by brother, Randy (Michelle) Stanford of Herington, Kansas, Russell Stanford of Iola, Kansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews and his two dogs Lucky and Princess.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery.
