Blanche W. Brady, age 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at New Mark Convalescent Care Center, Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on May 9, 1921, at LeRoy, Kansas, the daughter of Ebenezer Slocum and Lou Dell (Swisher) Dart. Blanche grew up in Garnett graduating from Garnett High School in 1938. Blanche married Jesse "Jack" Monroe Gibson in 1943. This union was blessed with three daughters. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married John E. Brady; he preceded her in death in 1988. In 1951 Blanche moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She worked in the cafeteria at Arrowhead Middle School before going to work as a CNA at Providence St. Margaret's Hospital for 13 years. Following retirement she returned to Garnett in 1983, living there until failing health facilitated her moving to Kansas City to be near her daughters. She enjoyed quilting, as well as fishing with her sisters. Blanche was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant siblings; one brother, Jack; and eight sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Jacklin King and husband Stanley of Kansas City, Missouri; Phyllis Castleberry and husband Paul of Garnett, Kansas; Karen Atchley and husband Larry of Kansas City, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
