Bob Coldwell, age 92, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
Bob was born on December 18, 1926, at Independence, Missouri. He was the second of five children born to Richard F. and Gladys Irene (Rodgers) Coldwell. Bob's family moved to Mildred, Kansas when he was a young boy where attended the Mildred school through the 8th grade. Bob's family then moved to the Elsmore / Savonburg area, where he began working as a truck driver. Bob worked a few various jobs before going to work as a mechanic. In 1951 Bob and Bonnie made their home in Humboldt. Bob owned and operated Humboldt Auto Service from 1954 to 1991. In his retirement he continued to work on the Humboldt school buses. Bob was proud of the fact that he maintained the school buses in Humboldt for over 50 years. He served as a volunteer for the Humboldt Fire Department for over 25 years. Bob was always willing to lend a hand or his talents to anyone who needed anything. Bob and Bonnie were avid supporters of the Allen County Community College, hosting many dinners for countless people associated with the college. Bob and Bonnie's helping hearts led them on numerous adventures and expanded their "family" in many untold ways.
Bob was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Humboldt. He was also an active member of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce for many years, while he owned his business.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie on June 10, 2015, son, Larry in 1978; two sisters, Dorothy Walton, Ardonna Baker; and one brother, Don Coldwell.
He is survived by his daughter, Jolene Keidel and husband, Dale of Humboldt; son, Ken Coldwell of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two grandsons, Mike Krokstrom and Chris Keidel; two great-granddaughters, Darlyann Barriger and Angelina Keidel; three great-great-great granddaughters, Andromeda and Kamryn Krokstrom and Lenyx Barriger; and one brother, Dick Coldwell of Victoria, Texas.
Memorial services for Bob will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Humboldt. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the church in Humboldt. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to the Humboldt Food Pantry and left in care of the funeral home.
