Bonnie Fay Conaway, age 78, Iola, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Windsor Place in Iola. Bonnie was born October 9, 1939, in Neil's Creek, Missouri, near Bixby, Missouri, to Quincy and Rosie Parks Sumpter. Bonnie graduated from the Viburnum High School, Viburnum, Missouri. She and Raney P. (Buck) Conaway, Jr. were married April 21, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri. Bonnie worked as an inspector at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 2005. Bonnie and Buck traveled a lot with Buck's construction work, settling in Westphalia in the early 1970's. Bonnie enjoyed her family and spending time with them. Bonnie is fondly remembered as a hard worker and for her Sunday breakfast gatherings of homemade biscuits, eggs, and venison. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frank Sumpter; five sisters, Ruby Mack, Dosha Abney, Ola Gore, and two infant sisters. Bonnie is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Ron Conaway, Iola; one daughter, Marian Conaway, Chanute; three grandchildren, Rachel Waltermire and husband, Justin, Chanute, Robyn Ingber and husband, Marc, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Misty Taylor, Wichita; three great-grandchildren, Emma Waltermire, Chanute, and Ella and Max Ingber, Minneapolis, Minnesota; three brothers, Ray Sumpter and wife, Miriam, Willard Sumpter and wife, Trudy, Sam Sumpter, all of Missouri; two sisters, Ilene Brooks and husband, Clyde, and Fern Thompson and husband, Jim, all of Missouri. In honor of Bonnie's wishes, she was cremated and there will be no public service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society, and may be left at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
