Brent Matthew Jackson, 29, of rural Elsmore, Kansas, died Thursday, January 26, 2012. Brent was born May 17, 1982, at Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Brian Conrad and Janet Marie (Houk) Jackson. He began elementary school in North Manchester, Indiana before the family returned to the farm south of Elsmore. He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 2000 where he lettered in football and excelled in workshop. He attended Allen County Community College and transferred to Pittsburg State where he studied graphic arts. Brent worked with his father as a farmer and stockman. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his kindheartedness to people and animals. He was active in the Lively Ones 4-H Club while growing up and was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church at Savonburg. SURVIVORS: His Parents: Brian and Janet Jackson of Elsmore, KS 1 Brother: Shane Jackson of Wichita, KS Grandparents: Richard and Ann Houk of Moran, KS, and Lorella Jackson of Elsmore, KS A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maxine Houk, grandfather, Conrad Jackson, aunt, Loretta Boman and cousins, Kent Jackson and Ryan Jackman. IN-STATE: There will not be a formal visitation; however, he will lie in-state at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola from 8:00a.m. until 8:00p.m. Sunday for friends and family to sign the guestbook. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the Friends Home Lutheran Church at Savonburg, Kansas. BURIAL: Elsmore Cemetery, Elsmore, KS MEMORIAL CHOICES: American Diabetes Association or Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
