Carl Aaron Cook, age 79, of Iola, Kansas, died of pneumonia at Allen County Hospital on November 11, 2011. Carl was born September 23, 1932, in Forum, Arkansas, to Philander Cook and Millie (Moppin) Cook. He grew up in Arkansas, California, and the Kansas City area. He married Bonnie McDaniel in May of 1953 and they had three children. They divorced in 1958. In June of 1959 he married Ruby (Collins) Robertson and they had three more children and four stepchildren. They divorced in 1973. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life but his main joy was as a mechanic. He belonged to the Teamsters Union of Kansas City, the Ararat Temple of Kansas City, and the Masonic Lodge of Kansas City, and participated in many parades with the Shriner's driving a little car. Carl loved golf, bowling, and fishing in his earlier years and was a diehard sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals to the end. He was always ready with jokes and had a "tall tale" to share with all. He is survived by a brother Phillip Cook, Sr. and wife Teresa of Harrisonville, MO, a sister Marilyn Horn and husband Roger of Kansas City, MO, and a sister Marsha Miller of Kansas City. Five children, Cindy Kilbourn and husband Larry of Shelbina, MO, Randy Cook and wife Gail of Moberly, MO, Carla Capper and husband Brent of Gas, KS, Robert Cook and wife Karrie of Pickerington, OH, and Jeff Cook and wife Teresa of Iola, KS. Four stepchildren, Larry Robertson and wife Sherri of Harveyville, KS, Pam Shrum of Pittsburg, KS, Joe Robertson of Springdale, AR, and Kelly Robertson and wife Patty of Logansport, IN. Twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Philander Cook, his mother Millie Cook-Blansett, his step-father Morris Blansett, his sister Bernita Overman, his son Gary Cook, and his brother-in-law Mike Miller. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriner's Hospitals. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11 a.m. with interment at Mount Washington Forever Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
