Carl Allen Elmore, age 86, formerly of Erie, Kansas died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kansas. Carl was born May 25, 1929 in McCune, Kansas the son of Harvey and Violet (Wells) Elmore and grew up north of Erie, Kansas. He spent his early years working in the oil fields and on various farms before settling in as a service technician for Sears and Roebuck for twenty-six plus years in the Iola area. Carl's passion was fishing and his pride and joy of his fishing endeavors was a 67 pound flathead catfish that was caught on the Neosho River. Carl was preceded in death by a daughter Betty Elmore and a son Danny Elmore, a brother Gerald Elmore, a grandson and two granddaughters. Carl is survived by two sons, Tim Elmore and wife Andrea of Justin, Texas, Carey Elmore and wife Christine of Eldorado, Kansas, four daughters, Peggy Luken and husband Kenny of Gas, Kansas, Vicky Taber and husband Paul of Reading, Kansas, Nancy of Wichita and Judy of Cincinnati, Ohio, three sisters, Ruth Banzett, Barbara Standley and Phyllis Wheat, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Iola, Kansas.
