Carl William Leim, age 95, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010, at the Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas. Carl was born in 1915, in New York, New York, the son of Carl William Leim Sr. and Gertrude (Heck) Leim. He grew up and went to school in Upper New York and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a sand hog, a machinist, and a toolmaker. Carl lived in Michigan and Texas before moving to Garnett in 1994. Carl was united in marriage to Alice Marie Hinkle on March 31, 1995, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas, where he and Alice were both members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Gertrude. Carl is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Leim of Garnett; two daughters, Katherine Leim Cranford of Springfield, Missouri; Sharon Patton and husband Dennis of Lexington, Michigan; son Paul Leim and wife Jeannie of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandsons, David Patton; Jacob Leim; Joshua Leim and wife Keeley; Shawn Cranford and wife Angela; Jeremy Cranford; granddaughter Kristen Leim; two great grandsons, Joshua Patton and Landon Cranford; great granddaughter Salem Leim; and nieces Judy Bruckman and Donna Galbraith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, these donations will be designated for the Wednesday Night Community Suppers at the church.
