Carol J. Porter, age 73, of Iola, Kansas, passed away January 21, 2019, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. Carol was born July 30, 1945, to John Eccles and Dorothy (Fuzzell) Eccles in Oakland, California.     Carol graduated from Iola High School in 1963. Shortly after graduating high school, she married Donald Porter in Iola, Kansas. For many years Donald and Carol moved to different places, and Carol worked various jobs throughout this time. A significant moment in their lives was spent in South Carolina while Donald was stationed there during his time in the Air Force. That was one of the happiest times of Carol’s life. After they returned to Kansas she held numerous jobs in the Iola area until she was hired at Gates Rubber Company. While working at Gates she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University in 1989. She retired from Gates after 30 years of service, becoming the first female manager at Gates. Carol loved to shop for antiques. She was a faithful attendant of the Humboldt Speedway. Carol loved to go to the casinos. She was an avid KU basketball fan. One of her favorite things to do was to attend rodeos and watch bull riding. Carol loved to read books, sometimes reading a book a week. Carol and Donald loved to attend the dances in Piqua, Kansas.   Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; and one sister Barbara Wille. Carol is survived by one son, Dustin Porter and wife, Missy, Iola, Kansas; two granddaughters, Brittany and fiancee, Matthew Simmons, Emporia, Kansas, Caleigh Porter, Iola, Kansas; one sister Connie Wolken and husband, Larry, Iola, Kansas; five nieces, Lisa Byrne and husband, Jake, Wichita, Kansas, Jacey Combs and significat other, Steve Heady, Iola, Kansas, Samantha Larney and husband, Josh, Chanute, Kansas, Jennifer Friend and husband, Terry, Iola, Kansas, Lisa Maloney; three nephews, Tanner Porter, Elsmore, Kansas, Jarred Brutchin and wife, Tonya, Iola, Kansas, Ramsey Gott; three great nieces, Paiton Brooks and husband, Chris, Iola, Kansas, Jenna Mittelmeier and husband, Ross Whyte, Manchester, England, Tessa Brutchin, Iola, Kansas; one great-nephew, Jakob Byrne, Wichita, Kansas; two brother-in-laws, Rocky Porter and wife, Teri, Iola, Kansas, Robert Wille, Iola, Kansas; one sister-in-law Sandy Gott, Iola, Kansas; and numerous other relatives. A visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019.  Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kansas. Condolences for the family may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
