Carol Stone

Carol J. Stone, 76, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Allen County Hospital. Carol was born September 18, 1935, at rural Mapleton, Kansas, the daughter of Hula John and Leona Sophia (Roberts) McHenry. She grew up near the Mapleton and Fulton communities. Carol married Billy G. Meech and they made their home in the Mapleton area. They later divorced and she was married to Ralph Stone. They lived north of LaHarpe and he preceded her in death in August of 2008. She worked a number of years as a waitress and later worked as a nurses aide in nursing homes. Carol loved animals and music. She has attended the Assembly of God Church. SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Carol West & husband, Jim of Iola, Kansas, and Patsy Pollet & husband, Clarence, Jr. of LaHarpe, Kansas 1 Sister: Betty McBride of Independence, Missouri 6 Grandchildren: Shawn Malloy, Dawn Malloy, Amanda Malloy, Kim Pollet, Crystal Richey, and Kirby Pollet 11 Great Grandchildren: Johnny, Cody, Casy, Cory, Courtney, Josh, Bryce, Haylee, Hunter, Kyree and Kerzia 4 Great Great Grandchildren: Julia, Kiara, Peyton & Grayce She was preceded in death by infant twins. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Harvest Baptist Church in Iola.
