Carolyn Sue Lewis

Carolyn Sue Lewis, age 80, passed away at her home in Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, April 28, 2023.

Carolyn was born on December 17, 1942 in Atchison, Kansas. She was one of three children born to Wilma (Tracy) and A.D. Barrons. Carolyn grew up in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School. Following high school, Carolyn got her teaching degree from Emporia State University and then married Kenny; they made their home in Garnett, Kansas where she taught High School for twenty plus years. Their union was blessed with two children, David and Daryl Lewis.

Carolyn was dedicated to everything in her life, be it school, Women on the Run, or her family. She had a number of friend groups including her bridge group which is still active today. She touched the lives of thousands of students during her years as a teacher. Her sons are still approached by former students who thought the world of her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother Gary Barrons.

She is survived by her two sons, David Lewis of Lawrence, Kansas, and Daryl Lewis of Richmond, Kansas; two grandsons, Jeremiah Lewis of Plainville, Kansas and Tyler Lewis of Gardner, Kansas; and one brother Roger Barrons of Manhattan, Kansas; along with many friends, nieces and nephews.
