Charles Ernest "Charlie" Sellman, 67, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Kindred Hospital Northland in Kansas City, surrounded by his family. Charlie was born December 15, 1948, in Iola, the son of Ernest "Bud" and Ruth (Schulze) Sellman. He grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1966. He attended Pittsburg State University. On June 6, 1970, Charlie married Debbie McKaig in Iola. They have always made their home in the Iola area. He worked for IMP Boats, the City of LaHarpe and the City of Iola where he read meters and worked in the water department for 33 years, retiring May 29, 2015. His memberships include N.R.A. and Calvary United Methodist Church. Charlie loved to fish and hunt with his sons and grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Debbie Sellman; 3 sons, Darren Sellman & wife, Monica of Iola, Jeremy Sellman & wife, Amber of Iola and Jeff Sellman of Melvern, KS; 9 grandchildren, Britany Sellman & fiancé Matt Catron of Colorado, Ben Smith of Iola, Cassidy Sellman & fiancé Cory Drake of Yates Center, KS, Tristan Fraker of Iola, Mark Lindsted of El Dorado, KS, Ty Sellman of Iola, Drake Sellman of Iola, Xander Sellman of Iola and Collin Krone of Humboldt; 2 great grandsons, Clayton and Kolten Drake; 1 sister, Gloria Snyder of Simi Valley, CA; 1 sister-in-law, Karen Muns & husband, Frank of Lewisville, TX; and 4 nephews, Brek Snyder, Brent Snyder, Brook Snyder and Kevin Payne. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel in Iola. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the funeral home with burial to follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
