Chuck Holloran, age 60, of Merriam, Kansas, formerly of Garnett, Kansas passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas.
Charles Clinton Holloran was born on December 18, 1962 to Charlie and Mary Lynn (Doran) Holloran at Marysville, Kansas. Chuck grew up in Garnett, graduating from Garnett High School with the class of 1981. He then attended Fort Scott Community College where he competed on the livestock judging team. He earned his Associate's Degree in 1983. Following school Chuck moved to Florida where he began his career in golf course maintenance and management, working at TPC Sawgrass. Throughout his career Chuck worked in many facets of the golf course industry, his work took him to South Carolina before returning to Kansas, where he worked in Garnett and Kansas City area courses.
On December 23, 1988, Chuck married Melinda Butel in the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett. They were blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Katy, while living in Cheraw, South Carolina. They later divorced.
Chuck was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1368. Chuck loved many sports and played football, basketball, and baseball. He was active in 4-H and FFA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his family. He was a Chiefs fan and a KU basketball fanatic. Golf was one of the constants throughout Chuck's life, as an avid golfer he shared his passion for it and other sports with his daughters and anyone else who would listen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie, on December 26, 2022.
Chuck is survived by his daughters, Sarah Hardman and husband, Tim, of Garnett, Katy Holloran of Overland Park, Kansas; granddaughter, Sawyer Stevenson; mother, Mary Lynn Holloran of Garnett; two sisters and two brothers, Tracey Rickabaugh and husband, Joe, of Topeka, Kansas, Tammra Schillig and husband, Ken, of Westphalia, Kansas, Marty Holloran and wife, Julie, of Garnett, and Kevin Holloran and wife, Stacy, of Kincaid, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Holy Angels Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery. Chuck's family will greet friends following a 7:00 PM Rosary on Thursday evening at the church.
