Charles R. Kesinger, age 71, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, at North Point Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas. He was born on June 25, 1944, at Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Eugene Kesinger and Marian (Landon) Norton. As a teenager, he was active in a local Topeka DeMolay Chapter. He graduated from Topeka High School with the class of 1962, furthering his education in Music at Washburn in Topeka, Kansas and SMU in Dallas, Texas. Charles taught in Catholic schools in Texas for several years and also worked in restaurant management. He recently got back into teaching over the last ten years retiring from Pomona School District, continuing to give private music lessons in the Lawrence, Ottawa, Garnett and Paola area with several students becoming professional level musicians. He was a member of the Garnett Community Band; the Hella Shrine Drum and Bugle Corp; and various other community musical groups. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Elmer Norton. Charles is survived by his son, Christopher Kesinger and wife Sarah of Pflugerville, Texas; two grandchildren, Ami Kesinger and Alex Jones; two brothers, Richard Norton and wife Sandy of Mound Valley, Kansas; Dennis Norton and wife Jeanette of Paola, Kansas. The family will greet friends at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett for visitation from 12:30 to 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 with a graveside service and burial to follow at the McLouth Cemetery, McLouth, Kansas.
