Charles Womelsdorf

Charles D. "Chuck" Womelsdorf, age 76, of Chanute, Kansas, died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Chuck was born on April 28, 1934 at Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Henry Webster and Leah Elsie (Allen) Womelsdorf. He grew up in the Mapleton, Xenia and Blue Mound areas. He married Lois Marvin in 1957. This union was blessed with five children. They later divorced. Chuck owned the tire shop in Colony in the mid 1970's. He later worked as a pipeliner, and then as a carpenter. Chuck enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Dan Womelsdorf; and an infant sibling. Chuck is survived by three sons, Charles Dean Womelsdorf, Jr. and wife Patty of Moran, Kansas; Dennis Womelsdorf of LaHarpe, Kansas; Dereck Womelsdorf and wife Tammy of Iola, Kansas; two daughters, Terri Nicholls and husband Ron of Ottawa, Kansas; Teresa Burton and husband Rick of Gas, Kansas; two sisters, Dixie Ramsey of Colony, Kansas; Kay Womelsdorf of Missouri; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
