Chester Lee Morey, 81, of rural Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Chester was born November 25, 1928, at Ottumwa, Kansas, the son of Jake and Etta (Kiser) Morey. He grew up at Burlington, Kansas, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. On June 6, 1953, Chester married Nadine A. Hines at Burlington, Kansas. They made their home in Burlington, Topeka and Yates Center before moving to Iola in 1975. He has worked for the Highway Food Basket in Yates Center, Singer's IGA in Iola and he retired from Gates Rubber Company in Iola in 1994. Chester enjoyed fishing and dancing with his wife. SURVIVORS: Wife: Nadine Morey of the home 2 Sons: David Morey & wife, Barbara of Audubon, Minnesota and Jerry Morey & wife, Pamela of Aiken, South Carolina 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren 3 Brothers and 6 Sisters He was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant brother. VISITATION & GRAVESIDE SERVICE: The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Tues., Jan. 26, 2010 at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, before leaving for the Gas City Cemetery for graveside services at 11:00.
