Chris Glenn Ellsworth, 56, of Humboldt passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. Chris was born December 3, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska, where he lived until moving to Iola as a young boy. He then moved to Humboldt in 1973, where he attended school, found his love for guitar, and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1979. He met Donna Criger while attending Humboldt High. They were married February 16, 1979. They had 2 children, Lynda Land, Elgin, TX, and David Ellsworth, Humboldt. Chris worked most of his adult life as a truck driver until he suffered an illness in 1987 that made him unable to continue. With his love of trucking, he continued as a dispatcher and mechanic with RVB Trucking and Ellsworth Motor Freight Lines. He continued there for several years eventually becoming Terminal Manager at the Chanute location. Most recently, he worked as Transportation Manager for Beaver Express and Cleaver Farm and Home, Chanute. Chris also served on the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years, 17 of which he was the treasurer. Chris played the guitar in a country band for numerous years. He also enjoyed racing and built a few cars with his son David. He enjoyed being outdoors getting dirty until cancer slowed him down. His biggest joy was his grandkids, JaLynn and Dominique Ellsworth, and those big hugs. Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home; daughter Lynda (Matt) Land of Elgin, Texas; son David (Courtney) Ellsworth of Humboldt, Kansas; grandchildren JaLynn and Dominique Ellsworth; mother Carma Taylor of Houston, Texas; brothers Guy Ellsworth of Houston, Texas, Jeff (Ginger) Taylor of Chanute, Mike (Diann) Taylor of Blair, Nebraska; brothers in law Mike Criger and Mark (Monica) Criger of Humboldt. Chris was preceded in death by his stepfather, Firmie Taylor, father in law Don Criger, brother in law Martin Criger, all of Humboldt, and his grandparents Mary and Chester Young of Iola. A memorial service and inurnment conducted by the family will be held at the graveside at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chris Ellsworth Memorial Fund and left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service of Iola.
