Christina J. Miller, age 91, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born October 17, 1919, at Scipio, Kansas, the daughter of August and Theresa (Lickteig) Rockers. Christina was born at the family home, where all twelve of her brothers and sisters were born. She attended East Scipio School. Christina married Edward G. Miller on September 19, 1939 at Scipio, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children. Christina was a homemaker and together with Ed operated the family farm for over 60 years. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching Royals games, visiting her nice neighbors and friends and family, and later in life she was a volunteer at the ARC Thrift Store in Garnett. She was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Altar Society, and several card groups. Christina was preceded in death by her parents, August and Theresa Rockers; her husband Ed Miller; two sons, Earl Miller and Leroy Miller; six brothers, Gregory, Albert, Jacob, Gus, Ambrose, and Frank; five sisters, Catherine, Regina, Rose Marie, Theresa, and Elizabeth. She is survived by two daughters, Edna Foltz and husband Ron of Richmond, Kansas; Thelma Slinkard and husband Ron of Ottawa, Kansas; one son, Bill Miller and wife Janice of Greeley, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Martha "Bun" Miller of Garnett, Kansas; three grandsons, Rod Foltz, Jeff Miller and Ryan Miller; two granddaughters, Angie Sears and Katie Bridges; great grandchildren, Danielle, Michelle, Hannah, Brett, Maclaine, Holden, and Kinsley; two step great grandchildren, Jeremy and Samantha; one great-great grandson, Jace; two sister-in-laws, Bernice Rockers and Evelyn Sharp; two brother-in-laws, Lyle Miller and Jim Hopkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, with burial to follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel with visitation to follow.
