Cindy Lea Grewing

November 20, 1959 — October 17, 2022

Cindy Grewing, age 62, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at her home.

Cindy Lea Hunsaker was born on November 20, 1959, in Wellsville, Kansas. She was the second of four children born to Earl Dean and Mary Alice (Lankard) Hunsaker. Cindy grew up in Wellsville, attending school there until her family moved to Mulvane, Kansas while she was in high school. She graduated from Mulvane High School with the class of 1977. Following high school her family returned to Wellsville. Cindy was united in marriage to Dave Grewing in 1987. In 1993 Cindy moved her family to Mildred, Kansas, to be near Dave's family. Cindy worked as a supervisor at the Russell Stover Candy factory in Iola for many years until a car accident left her unable to continue working. Cindy and Dave later divorced, in 2015 Cindy moved to Garnett, where she lived until her passing.

In her younger days Cindy enjoyed fishing, checking calves and tending to one of her three gardens. Family was always important to Cindy, her childhood often involved gathering with siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. Occasionally she and the cousins would engage in mischievous activities. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and a fan of KU Jayhawks Basketball, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids. Cindy will be remembered for her fiery spirit and her no nonsense outlook on life.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mary Hunsaker; her son, Brit Grewing in 2014; grandparents, Kenneth and Hazel Hunsaker and Jasper and Minnie Lankard.
