Clarence E. Hetrick, age 84, of Westphalia, Kansas passed Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Burlington, Burlington, Kansas. Clarence was born May 11, 1925 the son of Earl Elmer and Mary Alice (White) Hetrick at Westphalia, Kansas. He grew up in the Westphalia area. On April 26, 1946 Clarence married Lois Maxine Cade at Emporia, Kansas. He entered the U.S. Army from 1946-1948. Following his time in the service the couple moved to Ottawa, Kansas, where Clarence worked for Palmer and Jones Power Company. He then worked for City Service before going to work at the Ford garage. In 1951 they moved to their farm near Westphalia. Clarence enjoyed his work breaking horses for the Army, and bowling, however, some of his greatest joys were the times he spent pheasant and quail hunting. He was a member of the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Leonard Earl; brother, Alvin; and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife, Lois of the home, two sons, Roger Hetrick and wife, Dian, of Red Oak, Texas, and Steve Hetrick of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Mary Warren and husband, Mark, of Uniontown, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cody Hetrick, Sarah, Alison, and Kyle Warren; and three sisters, Joyce Van Horn of Greenville, Illinois, Norma Pace of Trumbull, Connecticut, and Rosemary Harrison and husband, George of St. Peters, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October, 7, 2009 at the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in the Patton Cemetery, rural Westphalia.
