Clarence C. Turner, 85, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. Clarence was born March 30, 1925, at Union Star, Missouri, the son of John H. and Opal Ellen (Shores) Turner. The family moved from Union Star to Enid, Oklahoma when he was six. He lived in Enid until he was inducted into the United States Army in 1944 during World War II. He received his honorable discharge from the service in 1946. On October 21, 1946, Clarence married Dorotha E. Heisler at the Allen County Courthouse. They made their home on a farm northwest of Iola near Geneva. Dorotha preceded him in death on December 8, 2007. At a young age he received the gospel when it came to his family and was true to that choice until the end of his life. SURVIVORS: 3 Daughters: Rosalee Erickson & husband, Charlie of Fridley, Minnesota, Nancy Beecham & husband, Brad of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Betty Rike & husband, Ed of Woden, Iowa 1 Daughter-In-Law: Lois Sanders & husband, Ken of Iola, Kansas Special Friend: Eula Eggers of Humboldt, Kansas 11 Grandchildren & 12 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Ray Turner, and an infant grandson, Jason Erickson. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Humboldt High School in Humboldt, Kansas. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, is in charge of arrangements.
