Clarine Steward

Clarine Steward, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Iola, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Clarine was born June 25, 1927, in Iola, the daughter of Clarence Lee and Zelma Maurine (Grasty) Warford. She graduated from Iola High School and worked as a telephone operator. On November 8, 1946, Clarine married Wendell Steward in Manhattan. They made their home in Iola until moving to Overland Park. She worked in the library at Johnson County Community College until she retired. Wendell preceded her in death September 29, 2007. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iola. She had been active in PTA while raising her family and enjoyed bowling. SURVIVORS: Her 3 Children: Sharon Staley & husband, Charles of Willard, MO, Wendy Ledford & husband, Butch of Overland Park and Mark Steward & wife, Kathy of Overland Park 3 Grandchildren: Sean & Scott Littlepage and Traci Steinmetz 4 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Lyle Scott Steward. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
